PULMONARY EMBOLISM
Pulmonary Embolus is a very underrated cause of death. Blood clots in the arteries of the lungs are often found at autopsy; in spite of the fact that other causes of death have been stipulated on the death certificate.
Like horses, human beings are not designed to spend much time lying around. When people take to their beds, especially after surgical procedures, the blood becomes sticky and clots in the calves of the legs where pieces break off and travel through the blood system to the lungs.
Small clots may produce minimal symptoms. Large clots cause pain in the chest and the death of lung tissue. Sometimes the changes in the lungs are mistaken for pneumonia or the pain in the chest for a heart attack. Very large blood clots block the major pulmonary arterial tree and a dramatic death occurs within minutes.
Home Remedies
Pulmonary Embolus is another good reason to stay away from hospitals and to avoid elective surgical procedures. If forced to undergo an urgent surgical procedure, request adequate pain relief and get out of bed immediately post op. There is no substitute for remobilization and unimpeded blood flow through the veins of the legs.
